About
My name is Morgan Deno and I’m sports photographer living in Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC.
I grew up in the equally beautiful town of Squamish, BC. Coming from a small town with so many things to do outdoors I quickly became a sports fanatic at a young age. I can mostly thank my parents for this as they supported (and funded) all my sports growing up. What can I say, I know sports. Immersing myself in live sports events, news, magazines, and social media I’m always up to speed on any of the sports that I might be following at one time.
Photography in some ways has always been a part of my life. Having small point and shoot cameras gifted as birthday or Christmas presents I’ve always had one in my hands. Only in the last 5 years have I started to take photography more seriously. Focusing on my skills and always wanting to learn more. I’ve spent a lot of time behind the lens sharpening my skills. I have worked along side other photographers soaking in everything they’ve had to offer from skills, to knowledge and experience. I spent a year working as a photographer’s assistant to wedding photographer Spencer Brawn which has proven to be one of the best learning experiences I’ve had to date.
Last year I shot as a photographer for the Vancouver Island Sports Blog. I covered VI Raiders Football and Nanaimo Clippers Hockey. I also shot a couple of freelance events including the trail running race called ‘Gut Busters’ that took place in Ladysmith.
I want my clients to have what I did not playing sports. Action shots. I want them to be able cherish these photos through the years, showing off how good they are at what they do best to all their friends and family. They should be able to look at these photos 10, 20, 30 years down the road and say ‘Look how good of shape I was in back then’ or ‘Remember when we won gold?’.
I would love to hear your story. Contact me and lets get together.
